1. Commercial Catering establishments : These are the catering establishments with profit as main motto. They can be further divided into

 a) General Market :Restaurants, Hotels, Pubs, disco theque, Night clubs are just few examples of General Market. In this market customer has wide variety of choice.Catering is the prime function of this type of catering.

b) Restricted Market: Transport Catering, Club. Industrial ( Contract) Caterings are few examples. In this Market  we have limited choice. Catering is the secondary function of the establishment.

2.Welfare Catering/Non Commercial Catering: The provision of food and drinks is for welfare purpose. Its of restricted nature. Examples include Prison,Langar, hospitals, Institutional caterings , Industrial Catering ( self run).
